Starting from 7:30 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and running through the weekend, Glenbard North Theatre will be presenting their final play for this school year, titled Peter and the Starcatcher.
Peter and the Starcatcher is essentially a prequel to Scottish playwright James Matthew Barrie’s Peter Pan. The classic and beloved story is about a boy named Peter who does not want to grow up into an adult. Peter meets Wendy and the Darling siblings in London and promptly whisks them away, with the aid of the fairy Tinker Bell, to his home in Neverland. While there, the group meets Peter’s band of Lost Boys and grapples with his greatest enemy, Captain Hook. The original story ends with Wendy growing up and getting married after returning back home, while Peter stays a child forever in Neverland; although, the cherished Disney adaptation concludes simply with the Darling siblings returning to London.
Peter and the Starcatcher gives context to Peter and Tinker Bell’s mysterious origins and allows a deeper look into the history of their fantastical home. The play details the adventures of an orphaned boy whose journey starts aboard a ship named the Neverland. A look-alike vessel travels with them, carrying Queen Victoria’s precious cargo.
This weekend’s performance will be the last production of the school year. Students and visitors can look forward to artful costumes, clever stage design, and the overall creative talent characteristic of GN Theatre.
