Spring is here, which means that the Spring Art Show is happening! The 2025 Spring Art Show was on April 29 and will include many different pieces of art from students from all of the various art classes that are offered at GN. The main purpose of the show was not only to showcase the wonderful artworks of GN students but to give an opportunity to all students to show off their work. Another key factor that shows just how much the art show means is the way it brings awareness to art and shows how important art can be to students in our school. Art teacher Kristi Billman explained what one of the main purposes of the spring art show is, saying, “It is an opportunity for us to show how valuable the arts are to our school and to our students.” The process of how the artwork is picked to be in the show is quite simple: one piece of artwork from each student in the art classes was admitted into the show. This allowed students to choose their best work that they created to be put in the show.
Alyssa Yim, ’25, made a beautiful ceramic piece in Ceramics 1. Yim said this about her work of art: “I just really like the color blue, and I like the ocean and it kind of looks like that.” Luis Trejo, ’26, explained what inspired his photography: “I wanted to try something new and I know mental health is a really important topic to talk about, so I wanted to use art and my skills in photography to report or show disorders and what it looks like to suffer from different mental health states.”

With the Spring Art Show coming to an end, there are many things that the art department and art students hope that people will take away from such an amazing event. Whether it be helping students through art, learning to appreciate the artwork from students, or encouraging GN students to take art classes in the future, there are many reasons why the Spring Art Show can be important to the whole community.
