For two years in a row, Glenbard North’s Theater is doing a musical. This year, they are producing The Addams Family. This is quite unusual since the Theater Department usually only produces musicals every other year.
One person who plays an important role in the Theater Department is Madison Gillis, Speech Arts Teacher, who talked about doing a musical again. Gillis said, “This is the first time I think we have done two musicals in a row. So I think everyone is really excited about having two spring musicals.” She added that students who are a part of theater are also really excited.
Many students who are a part of theater are also ecstatic about the musical. Alyssa Passero, ’25, said, “I am very excited about doing the musical two years in a row. It was a big surprise as usually we have a musical every other year and due to being a senior when this change happened, I got three musicals in my high school experience!” As it is, everyone is really excited about doing another musical.
When Gillis was asked about why the Theater Department picked The Addams Family, she said she and Marissa Talarico, who is also directing the musical, discussed options. Gillis said, “Her and I were like, talking about what she might want to do and one thing we really love about The Addams Family is the big ensemble aspect to it. And also, I think with Wednesday going on right now, everyone’s really into The Addams Family.”
Passero is also enthusiastic about doing The Addams Family. She said, “When I heard we were doing The Addams Family, you should have seen my face. I was super thrilled as The Addams Family is a really fun musical to do, and I have watched the movies in my childhood so my final year before becoming an adult is giving me childhood nostalgia and great memories.” She also encourages everyone to buy tickets and go see the show in the spring.
The musical will be on April 24-26 in the Glenbard North auditorium.
