Benedictine University is part of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) of NCAA Division III. Last season the Eagles baseball team went 26-13, earning a second overall seed in the conference tournament, before ultimately falling to number one seed Aurora University. Schenkel says he chose Benedictine University “because the coaching staff and players were extremely welcoming to me and really showed interest in wanting to have me within their program.” He also said the thing that he is most excited about while playing college baseball is “forming good relationships with my teammates and continuing to play the sport I’ve loved.”
